Legendary Australia pacer Brett Lee termed India ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah as “the best bowler of all formats” following his pivotal role in leading his side to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 triumph.
ICC Men’s Player of the Month for June 2024, Bumrah was instrumental in India’s road to glory as he took 15 wickets at an average of 8.26 and an economy rate of 4.17, backed up by the best bowling figures of 3/7.
Bumrah also finished the T20 World Cup 2024 as the second-highest wicket-taker.
Meanwhile, Brett Lee, who was a part of Australia’s 2003 World Cup-winning squad, heaped praise on Jasprit Bumrah by terming him “simply exceptional” and also the best bowler across formats currently.
“In my opinion, Jasprit Bumrah is simply exceptional. He is the best bowler in all formats right now and leads the attack,” Lee stated.
“Bumrah can keep up an amazing pace while shaping the new ball away. His tournament performance demonstrated his leadership abilities, taking about 15 wickets with remarkable economy. He is absolutely exceptional, and India is deserving of praise for their accomplishments.”
Lee also lauded India’s strength in the shortest international format, specifically speaking highly of their middle order which features players like Shubman Gill and Rinku, who according to him, can dominate at any batting position.
“Their batting order, which includes players who can dominate at every position from top to bottom, speaks volumes. Their middle-order is loaded with power and they have hitters who can put runs on the board quickly,” Lee added.
