Brazil thump Columbia to reach semi final of FIFA U20 Women’s WC

SAN JOSE: Brazil edged past Columbia to reach the semifinals of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup with Tarciane de Lima scoring the lone goal of the second quarter-final on Sunday.

De Lima blasted the ball into the nets after Brazil was awarded a penalty shot in the 26th minute as Columbian defender Baron tackled Analuyza inside the area.

Columbia failed to claw back their way back into the game after the lead as Brazil effectively neutralized their attempts for an equalizer.

With the win, Brazil booked their spot in the second semifinal scheduled on Friday awaiting to compete against the winner of the fourth quarter-final between Japan and France.

Meanwhile, Spain also reached the semi-final after they beat Mexico 1-0 in the first quarter-final on Saturday.

The action-filled tournament is being telecasted live on Pakistan’s first HD Sports channel – A Sports and will be simultaneously streamed on the digital platform of ARY Digital Network – ARY ZAP in crystal clear HD quality.
