ABU DHABI: Fujairah’s bowlers, led by Muhammad Rohid decimated Ajman’s batting lineup before Salman Khan’s gritty 42-run knock powered the leaders to a convincing six-wicket victory in the 18th match of the Emirates D10 League.
Put into bat first, Ajman’s batting lineup failed completely and could only raise 76 runs before bundling out in the ninth over.
The sixth-placed side’s batters struggled against a disciplined Fujairah bowling attack and none of them could make significant contributions with the bat with Rahul Chopra (19) top-scoring for the side.
Besides Chopra, Sagar Kalyan (14), Hashit Kaushik (13) and Abdul Shakoor (11) remained the notable run-getter for Ajman while the rest of their batters failed to make it into the double digits.
Fujairah’s Muhammad Rohid was sensational with the ball as he picked up four wickets for 24 runs in his quota of two overs, followed by Umair Ali Khan’s 3/10 while Haider Ali made two scalps.
Set to chase a modest 77-run target, Fujairah comfortably steered to victory in the ninth over, thanks to a sensible knock by Salman Khan.
The right-handed opener stood his ground firm while Fujairah lost wickets at regular intervals before propelling his side home.
He struck three boundaries and two sixes on his way to a 23-ball 42.
Besides him, only Raees Ahmed (10) managed to get into the double figures.
Mohd-Usman Mani was the pick of the bowlers for Ajman while Syed Essam and Nasir Aziz could pick up a wicket.
