DUBAI: Mohammad Shehzad scored unbeaten 82 runs to set the tone for Pakistan’s successful run-chase against arch-rivals India in their second match of U19 Asia Cup here on Saturday.
Set to chase 238 runs in fifth match of the tournament, Pakistan lost opener Abdul Bangalzai earlier for naught but Shehzad and Maaz Sadaqat put up fighting 64 runs on the scoreboard to set the momentum.
Shehzad went onto score 82 off 105 balls laced with four boundaries and five maximums. Qasim Akram made 22 followed by cameos from Irfan Khan (33), Rizwan Mehmood (29) and Ahmed Khan (29*).
The three batters, in the end, made the chase easier for the Green Shirts.
Raj Bawa of India bagged four wickets while Rajvardhan Hangargekar, Ravi Kumar, Nishant Sindhu shared a wicket apiece.
While batting first, Harnoor Singh (46) and Aaradhya Yadav (50) drove India to 237. Kaushal Tambe scored 32 runs off 38 balls including four boundaries whereas Rajvardhan Hangargekar 33 spread over five boundaries and a six.
Zeeshan Zameer took five wickets to help Pakistan bowl out India for 237. Awais Ali took two wickets and Qasim and Ahmed took a wicket each.
