Pakistan batting maestro Babar Azam is on the verge of achieving multiple milestones in ODI cricket during the upcoming tri-nation series final against New Zealand, scheduled on 14 February in Karachi.

Babar has so far scored 5990 runs in 125 ODI games at an impressive average of 55.98, needing just 10 more runs to become the 11th Pakistan player to reach 6,000 runs in the format.

He will join an elite group of Pakistani batters led by Inzamam-ul-Haq, who tops the list with 11,701 ODI runs, followed by Mohammad Yousuf (9,554) and Saeed Anwar (8,824).

Moreover, Babar Azam also has a chance to equal South African batting legend Hashim Amla’s long-standing record of fastest to 6000 ODI runs.

Amla achieved the feat in 123 innings while Babar has so far scored 5990 runs in 122 innings.

It’s worth noting that Babar holds the record for being the fastest batter to score 5000 ODI runs, having achieved the landmark in 97 innings.

Babar has scored 19 ODI centuries, placing him in an impressive second position in the list of most hundreds by Pakistani batters.

He is just one century away from equaling the legendary Saeed Anwar’s record of 20 centuries.

Additionally, if Babar Azam manages to score his 20th century in the tri-nation ODI series final against New Zealand, he will become the second-fastest batter to achieve this feat.

Amla tops the list, having reached the milestone in 108 innings.
