Australia make late addition to ODI squad ahead of Pakistan series

RAWALPINDI: Cricket Australia (CA) has made a late addition to their squad for the upcoming ODI series against Pakistan, with batting all-rounder Cooper Connolly set to join the side ahead of the first game, scheduled on May 30.

The series will open at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium before the action shifts to Lahore for the remaining two matches at the Gaddafi Stadium on June 2 and June 4.

Connolly’s inclusion comes after regular Australian captain Mitchell Marsh was ruled out of the tour due to an ankle injury sustained during his stint with Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season.

In Marsh’s absence, wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis has been appointed stand-in captain for the series.

Meanwhile, Cricket Australia (CA) confirmed that a decision regarding Marsh’s availability for Australia’s upcoming white-ball tour of Bangladesh will be made later.

Australia are also expected to hand an international debut to emerging batter Ollie Peake as they continue reshaping the squad following Marsh’s withdrawal.

Alex Carey, Nathan Ellis, Cameron Green, Josh Inglis (c/wk), Matthew Kuhnemann, Marnus Labuschagne, Riley Meredith, Ollie Peake, Matthew Renshaw, Tanveer Sangha, Liam Scott, Matt Short, Billy Stanlake, Cooper Connolly and Adam Zampa.
