KIRTIPUR: United Arab Emirate’s (UAE) middle-order batter Asif Khan was in destructive touch amid his side’s fixture against Nepal as he smashed the fourth-fastest century in the history of Men’s ODIs on Thursday.
Asif amassed the milestone in just 41 deliveries and powered UAE to post a massive 310/6 in their ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 encounter against Nepal.
Coming out to bat in the 38th over when his side was 175/5, Asif turned things around for the UAE as the right-handed batter devastated Nepal’s bowlers to score an astoundingly quick century and recovered his side to a defendable total.
Asif muscled 11 sixes and four boundaries on his way to scoring an unbeaten 101 in 42 deliveries.
Asif’s 41-ball century now ranks the fourth quickest in Men’s ODIs, only behind South Africa’s AB de Villiers (31), New Zealand’s Corey Anderson (36) and Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi (37).
His ruthless century was also the fastest by an associate player in Men’s ODIs.
