LAHORE: Pakistan international and Sindh’s Aroob Shah will captain the Green Shirts as Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Wednesday announced the national squad for the upcoming under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup.

The inaugural edition of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup will take place from January 14 to 29, 2023 in South Africa.

According to the PCB, a 15-member squad and four reserve players were selected after assessing their performances in this year’s Women U19 T20 Tournament held at Lahore Country Club in Muridke from 13 to 22 August.

“These players were selected after a rigorous and robust process and I want to congratulate the coaches who have worked tirelessly hard on the skills of the players to get them ready for the event,” said Women’s selector Asmavia Iqbal.

The top performers of the six-team tournament had undergone two skills and training camps staged at the Inzamam-ul-Haq High-Performance Centre, Multan in September and at the Hanif Mohammad High-Performance Centre, Karachi in November, said PCB in a media statement.

Captain Aroob has represented Pakistan’s senior women’s team in two ODIs and five T20Is.
