RAWALPINDI: All-rounder Anwar Ali has been penalised with 25 per cent of the match for showing dissent at an umpire’s decision during the opening game of the National T20 Cup on Tuesday between Sindh and Southern Punjab.
According to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Sindh all-rounder Anwar was adjudged of violating article 2.8 of the PCB Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel.
The incident happened in the seventh over of the second innings when Anwar showed dissent against the umpire’s decision after his delivery was deemed wide overhead.
On-field umpires Rashid Riaz and Nasir Hussain, third umpire Saqib Khan and fourth umpire Imtiaz Iqbal levelled the charges against the all-rounder. Anwar, who pleaded guilty, accepted the sanction proposed by Nadeem Arshad.
It is pertinent to mention here that Sindh beat Southern Punjab by 42 runs.
