Amir replaces Naseem in Gloucestershire in County Championship

KARACHI: Pakistan’s left-arm pacer Mohammad Amir has replaced his countryman Naseem Shah in the Gloucestershire County Cricket Club in the ongoing County Championship 2022.

Naseem, who was ruled out of the championship for a month after sustaining a shoulder injury, has been replaced by left-arm pacer Amir.

The Gloucestershire signed the experienced left-arm speedster Amir for a three-match stint. The 30-years-old will play his first match for Gloucestershire on April 28.

Taking to Twitter, the Gloucestershire CCC announced the signing of Amir as their overseas pick.

“We are delighted to announce the signing of Pakistan pace bowler Mohammad Amir. The experienced international will be available to play in three County Championship matches for Glos in April & May,” the club wrote.

Amir, on the other hand, in a Gloucestershire released statement, said he is excited for the challenge, while also claiming that he loves to play in English conditions.

“The County Championship is an amazing competition and I can’t wait to get going with Gloucestershire. I love playing in English conditions and I’m feeling really good, so I hope I can perform well for the team,” the statement quoted Amir.

“I’m excited for the challenge and will try my best to help Gloucestershire win some matches,” Amir concluded.

It is pertinent to mention here that Amir has represented Pakistan in 36 matches and has 119 Test wickets to his name.
