ABU DHABI: Raja Akifullah Khan and Muhammad Zubair Khan shone with the ball before Ali Abid’s brisk 22-run knock propelled Abu Dhabi to a convincing six-wicket victory over Emirates Red in the 29th fixture of the Emirates D10 League.
Set to chase a modest 84-run target, Abu Dhabi accumulated 89/4 in 7.5 overs as skipper Ali Abid led from the front in the pursuit with an unbeaten 22.
Abid struck two boundaries and a six on his way to a 14-ball 22 and sealed crucial two points for Abu Dhabi, which bolstered them to draw level with second-placed Emirates Red.
Besides Ali Abid, Abdul Muqtadar Babar (17), Uzair Bacha (16) and Osama Hassan (15) also made significant contributions for the hosts in the run chase.
For Emirates Red, Abdullah Kayani, Umer Doger, Ammar Badami and Muhammad Asif-Jr could pick up a wicket.
Emirates Red had a dismal show with the bat in the first innings, after opting to bat as they were restricted to 83/7 in the allotted 10 overs.
Opening batter Ahaan Fernandes and Muhammad Irfan remained the joint top-scorers for Emirates Red with 18 each while Umer Doger was the other notable run-getter for his team with a crucial 14 at the backend.
Raja Akifullah Khan and Muhammad Zubair Khan led the bowling attack for Abu Dhabi with two wickets each while Muhammad Mohsin, Irshad Hussain and Yash Punja struck out a batter each.
Abu Dhabi and Emirates Red both next face their Sharjah on Wednesday in their 10th match each of the campaign.
