Afghanistan beat Namibia to remain on second postition

ABU DHABI: Naveen-ul-Haq and Hamid Hassan bagged three wickets each as Afghanistan beat Namibia by 62 runs to remain in the second position in Group 2 of T20 World Cup. 

Set to chase 161 runs, Namibian batters gave up to Afghanistan’s bowlers who showed their dominancy throughout. David Weise was the highest scorer for them with 26 runs off 30 balls including two boundaries. Jam Nicol Loftie Eaton managed to score 14.

Apart from Naveen and Hamid, Gulbadin Naib and Rashid Khan bagged two and a wicket respectively.

Earlier, openers Hazratullah Zazai and Mohammad Shahzad provided a solid 53-run stand to Afghanistan as they scored 160-5 in given 20 overs. Zazai scored 33 with the help of four boundaries and two sixes whereas Shahzad smashed 45 runs.

Asghar Afghan, who played his last international match, made 31 runs followed by skipper Mohammad Nabi scoring 32 not-out laced with five boundaries and a six.

For Namibia, Ruben Trum Pelmann and Eaton bagged two wickets each.
