SOUTHAMPTON: Pakistan’s right-arm speedster Mohammad Abbas completed 100 wickets for Hampshire County Cricket Club amid his side’s County Championship 2023 fixture against Nottinghamshire on Saturday.
Abbas, who decimated Nottinghamshire’s batting line-up with a six-for in the first innings, continued his ruthless bowling in the second to further push the visitors to the backfoot.
Nottinghamshire, resuming their second innings at 146/6 on the third day of their ongoing first fixture of the season, rocked with Abbas’s magic as the right-arm pacer soon booked their lineup by taking three quick wickets and amassed the 100-wicket mark for the club.

Abbas maintained Hampshire’s domination with a wicket in the first over of the third day as he dismissed wicketkeeper batter Tom Moores with a beautiful outswinger.
He then castled Olly Stone to draw eighth success for the home side before trapping Dane Paterson in his legs to wrap up a dominant show with the ball.
Abbas returned with the match figures of 9/116 and played a pivotal role in restricting Nottinghamshire to a modest total.
Following Abbas’s magic, Hampshire now need to chase down 132 runs with almost two days of action to script a winning start to their County Championship campaign.
