Abu Dhabi: New Zealand’s Martin Guptill is looking forward to make a mark ahead of his first stint in Pakistan Super League (PSL) season six with the defending champions Karachi Kings.
The 34-year-old Guptill is excited to face pacers, who have been part of the Pakistan side. “I’ve been lucky enough to face international guys while playing against Pakistan. It would be nice to come up again. The likes of Shaheen Afridi, Hasan Ali, it’s gonna be a great challenge and I am looking forward to it,” he told reporters in a virtual presser on Monday.
Guptill, who plays as an opener for Kiwis, has no issues lower down the order. Remember, Sharjeel Khan and Babar Azam are opening the innings for Kings since 2020.
“Wherever I bat in the order, I am here to do the job that is to score runs. I’ll try to do that to the best of my ability,” he added.
On the other hand, Guptill also revealed his favorite Pakistani batters. “Off-late, Babar but to who I watch growing up are Younis Khan and Mohammad Yousuf. They were fantastic to watch and I was lucky enough to play against both of them towards the end of their career,” he maintained.
It must be noted that Karachi Kings are at the top of the points table with six points. They will resume their PSL 6 campaign against Multan Sultans on June 10.
