MIRPUR: Khulna Tigers thump Rangpur Riders by nine wickets on Monday in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2025 Eliminator courtesy of some brilliant performance from their spinners.
After opting to bat first, Rangpur Riders’ batting looked out of sorts as half of their team went back to the pavilion inside the powerplay.
The openers James Vince (0) and Soumya Sarkar (1) fell cheaply as Sarkar ran himself out while the former was caught and bowled by Nasum Ahmed.
Their star-studded lineup which included Tim David, Andre Russell and James Vince could not manage to perform on the big occasion and were caught in a spin trap.
David was caught after scoring seven runs while the big hitter Russell was cleaned bowled by Mohammad Nawaz on four runs.

Rangpur could have been easily bundled out on 52 runs but Akif Javed (32) and Nurul Hasan (23) added 33 runs for the last wicket which pushed the team’s total to 85.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Nasum Ahmed took three wickets a piece in their allocated four overs while Nawaz, Hasan Mahmud and Musfik Hasan took one wicket each.
In reply, Tiger’s opener Mohammad Naim, who is now the BPL 2025 leading run scorer, continued his great form and scored 48 off 33 balls.
Naim’s innings included four sixes and three fours while his opening partner Alex Ross scored 29 runs. Khulna Tiger captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s (0) early wicket was the only bright sign for Rangpur Riders.
Nasum Ahmed was named as the Player of the Match for his three wickets.
