BULAWAYO: Scotland skipper Richie Berrington led from the front amid his side’s dominant 111-run victory over the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the 12th match of the ongoing Cricket World Cup (CWC) Qualifier on Friday.
After being put into bat first, Scotland piled up a commendable total of 282/8 despite a shaky start, thanks to a sensational century by their skipper Richie Berrington.
Coming to bat at number three in just the third over when his side was one down for just six runs, Berrington held his ground firm and carried his bat all the way till the final delivery of the innings.
He kept the scoreboard ticking singlehandedly whilst losing partners at the other end at an alarming rate and brought up a fighting century in the 46th over.
Richie Berrington smashed nine boundaries and three sixes on his way to a 136-ball 127.
Besides him, Michael Leask (41) and Mark Watt (44) were significant contributors and stitched important partnerships with the skipper.
