KOWLOON: Rubina Chhetry ran through the Sapphires’ batting lineup to steer Barmy Army to a commanding 61-run win and confirm the semi-final spot for her side in the FairBreak Invitational 2023 on Wednesday.
Nepal’s Rubina took the first five-wicket haul of the tournament and helped Barmy Army bundle out the opposition for 107 in the chase.
Earlier Barmy Army scored 168 for 8 after they were put into bat, thanks to excellent showings by Laura Wolvaardt (49), Shemaine Campbelle (30) and Chhetry (30).
After aiding her side in setting a respectable total, Chettry went on to grab five wickets for 11 runs in four overs and claimed the Player of the Match award.
For Sapphires, except skipper Babette de Leede (23), Erin Burns (21) and Tash Farrant (32) none of the batters were able to jump into double figures.
Ruchitha Venkatesh claimed two wickets while Tara Norris and Laura Cardoso had a scalp each during Barmy Army’s dominant show with the ball.
