DUBAI: India’s upset defeat by Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup last night infuriated many Indian fans with young fast bowler Arshdeep Singh becoming the victim of the uncalled outrage since he dropped the catch of Asif Ali during the thriller between Pakistan and India on Sunday.
In the latest video circulating over social media, an Indian journalist can be seen confronting a man who was abusing Arshdeep Singh when the team was boarding the bus at the stadium after losing to Sri Lanka by six wickets on Tuesday.
The journalist Vimal Kumar slammed the Indian fan for hurling inappropriate comments at the pacer and complained to the security personnel about his abusive behaviour.
The 23-year-old Arshdeep dropped a sitter of Asif Ali in the 18th, who then played a crucial role in the team’s victory. The left-arm pacer has been subjected to severe criticism and social media trolls where many Indian fans even question his loyalty and patriotism towards the country.
India has lost both of its matches in the Super Four Stage of Asia Cup 2022, diminishing its chances to qualify for the final scheduled on September 11.
