Fakhar scores maiden PSL century as Qalandars beat Kings

KARACHI: Fakhar Zaman smashed his maiden Pakistan Super League (PSL) century as Lahore Qalandars notched seven-wicket victory over Karachi Kings in sixth match of the tournament here at National Stadium on double-header Sunday.

Fakhar was on song as he propelled Qalandars to chase 171 runs single-handedly against Kings. Shaheen Shah Afridi-led Qalandars made 174-4 to complete the target with four balls to spare.

The left-handed batter smoked 106 runs off 60 balls laced with 12 boundaries and four sixes. Mohammad Hafeez made 24 runs whereas Samit Patel remained not out for 26 including four boundaries.

For Kings, Umaid Asif took two wickets while Imad Wasim and Mohammad Nabi shared a wicket apiece.

Earlier, Babar Azam and Sharjeel Khan scored 84 runs together to set the tone for Kings to score 170-7.

Sent into bat first, Babar and Sharjeel provided a steady start to Kings. The duo scored 84-0 in 10 overs before Hafeez arrived and bagged Sharjeel off clean bowled.

The left-handed batter fired 60 runs off 39 balls laced with eight boundaries and three sixes. Babar smashed four boundaries to score 41 runs.

Kings’ suffered batting collapsed after Sharjeel’s departure but Joe Clarke rescued them with his well-fought 24 runs.

For Qalandars, Haris Rauf bagged three wickets while Rashid, Zaman Khan, Mohammad Hafeez, and Afridi bagged a wicket each.
