KARACHI: Astro Turf installation work has started in Gilgit/Baltistan’s Lalak Jan Hockey Stadium, this correspondent reported on Saturday.
According to the details, modern day Astro Turf has reached in stat-of-the-art hockey stadium which is situated between the mountains. It took more than 10 years to install Astr Turf at this ground.
The plan was passed in 2007 but due to uncertainties, it kept getting delayed. The project that started with a budget of 3.5 crores, will be completed in 10 crores in March this year.
As per the sources, the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF)’s president Khalid Sajjad Khokhar played an important role in completing this project.
