DUBLIN: Two members of Ireland’s squad for the West Indies tour – Paul Stirling and Shane Getkate tested positive for the COVID-19, Cricket Ireland reported on Thursday.
In a press release, Cricket Ireland reported that the Irish squad, flying from Florida to Jamaica, dented by the COVID-19 outbreak in the camp.
Stirling and Getkate, after contracting the virus, have isolated themselves. The contracted players will join the squad in Jamaica after the completion of the mandatory quarantine period. Another member, George Dockrell, cleared to travel; after returning a false negative.
Taking to Twitter, Cricket Ireland confirmed the outbreak of the widely spread virus in the squad.

The Ireland tour to West Indies in 2022 will include an ODI series and a T20 International. The ODI series between Ireland and West Indies will be played first, followed by the only T20I. The ODI series will have three games. The Ireland-West Indies ODIs and T20I will take place from January 08 to January 16.
