KARACHI: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK)’s bowlers helped their team bowl out Central Punjab (CP) for 250 runs and win last round match by 244 runs to qualify for the final of Quaid-e-Azam Trophy (QEAT) here on Tuesday.
On last day’s play, KPK bowlers made the most of an opportunity to grab opponents’ batters prior to the target. Sameen Gul bagged three wickets for KPK whereas Imran Khan Sr, Sajid Khan, and Iftikhar Ahmed shared two wickets each.
Set to chase 295 runs, CP’s batters lost their control after a good opening start provided by Abid Ali (61) and Rizwan Hussain (67). Abid left the field after complaining of chest pain. He was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Hussain Talat resisted a bit and scored 46 including seven boundaries but KPK bowlers got rid of batters after regular intervals.
In another match of last QEAT’s round, Sindh won the match by 48 runs against Southern Punjab (SP). Sindh remained unlucky for not being qualified for the finals despite remaining on top of the points table.
