USA captain puts Pakistan, India on notice after Canada victory

The United States of America (USA) captain Monank Patel has sent a stern warning for Pakistan and India after defeating Canada in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 opener.

USA, who are the co-host of the tournament along with West Indies, were set to chase 195 against Canada, which they successfully did with 14 balls to spare, courtesy of Aaron Jones.

The right-handed batter smashed ten sixes, during his entertaining innings of 94 runs from 40 balls. He also hit four boundaries.

After the match, the USA captain expressed his appreciation for Jones as well as satisfaction over the team’s dominant performance.

“We batted really well. Canada were ahead of us when we lost two wickets in our chase but Jones was unbelievable. We always knew he was talented but he took it to another level in today’s game,” Patel said in the post-match ceremony.

He then warned India and Pakistan, stating that the USA will continue to play fearless cricket irrespective of opposition.

“We played fearless cricket and will continue to do so in the upcoming matches. Whether it is India or Pakistan, our brand of cricket will not change,” Patel said.

USA will face Pakistan on June 6 in Dallas and India on June 12 in New York.
