Hazlewood, Finch, Warner dominate hosts as Australia win by 10 wickets

COLOMBO: Australia completely thrashed out the hosts Sri Lanka to achieve a comprehensive 10 wickets victory as the speedster Josh Hazlewood starred with the bowl followed by a stellar show by the opening pair of Aaron Finch and David Warner in the first T20 here on Tuesday.

Sri Lanka failed to post a challenging total after a flourishing start as the team was all out on 128 runs in the 20th over. Fast bowlers Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc wreaked havoc on the Sri Lankan batting with a fine showcase of pace-bowling. Hazlewood stormed through the middle order in the 14th over, sending three batters to the pavilion.

Sri Lanka lost nine wickets for just 28 runs in the last eight overs of their inning.

Australia, on the other hand, faced no irritants in their chase as the opening pair of Finch and Warner sailed their team to the finish line without losing a wicket.

Australian skipper Finch remained not out on 61 off 40 balls, hitting four gigantic sixes and an equal number of fours, while, Warner scored an unbeaten 70 runs off 44 balls including 9 boundaries.

Hazlewood was awarded Man of the Match for his phenomenal display of fast bowling as he grabbed 4 wickets for just 16 runs. Left-arm pacer Starc, on the other hand, also took three crucial wickets for 26 runs.
