Gladiators to lock horns with table-toppers Sultans in a must-win game

LAHORE: In the 25th match of the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 7, the fifth-ranked Quetta Gladiators will lock horns with the table-toppers Multan Sultans in a do or die match.

On the double-header Friday, the Gladiators will be locking horns with the table-toppers of the ongoing PSL 7 – Sultans, in a must-win match as a defeat, may result in the elimination for the Gladiators.

The Gladiators, who suffered a frustrating defeat against Peshawar Zalmi in their last outing will be looking to regain their lost momentum. The 2019 champions heavily rely on their top order which features the likes of Jason Roy, James Vince, Will Smeed and in-form Ahsan Ali.

The side’s top-order, however, failed in their last fixture against Zalmi and only Smeed stood up for his team with a gritty knock.

The Gladiators’ middle-order also struggled to get going against Zalmi’s bowling attack and the side will be hoping to get back to the rhythm before the all-important face-off with the Sultans.

Sultans, on the other hand, are enjoying an astonishing run in the mega event. They are currently leading the points table with seven victories out of the eight matches.

Just like the Gladiators, the Sultans too rely on their openers which includes the in-form Mohammad Rizwan and Shan Masood.

The side, however, also possesses the firepower in their middle-order as Tim David, Khushdil Shah, and Rilee Rossouw can turn things around with their berserk hitting.

In the bowling department, the side has the services of the young Shahnawaz Dahani, alongside Rumman Raees, Blessing Muzarabani, and the veteran leg-spinner Imran Tahir.

A victory against the Gladiators will help the Sultans to strengthen their top position on the points table as Lahore Qalandars close in with 10 points.
