Shaheen likely to miss second Test against Sri Lanka after knee injury

COLOMBO: Pakistan pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi will possibly be rested for the second Test against Sri Lanka due to a knee injury after he pulled a leg strain during the Galle Test.

According to the details, the left-arm pacer sustained a knee injury while fielding during the first Test after which he was taken off the field and underwent an MRI scan.

The team management will consult with the head of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) medical department before making a decision on Shaheen’s participation in the second Test.

However, the left-arm pacer bowled just seven during the second innings before he left the field following the discomfort. Whereas, he took four wickets in the first innings for Pakistan.

The second Test between Pakistan and the hosts Sri Lanka will be played from July 24 to 28 at the same venue, meanwhile, the Green Shirts have a 1-0 lead in the two-match Test Series after their historic win in the first match.
